Re: Major Hurricane Irma: Approaching Leeward Islands
I know everyone is busy after Harvey but I have a question. I noticed that Irma is in the process of an eyewall replacement. I know that will most likely weaken her some but given everything else being set perfectly do you think it gives much hope of keeping her down any? I was just thinking that ma...

Re: August 2017: Harvey/Catastrophic Flood/Recovery
We are a long way from the end of this but I wanted to take a moment to thank EACH AND EVERY ONE of you that post on this board. Looking back at how early the "worst case scenerio" was discussed makes me in awe of everyone again. As always I learned so much and was able to help prepare my ...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
First let me thank everyone that has been tireless giving of themselves during this event. As always it is appreciated. Also, could someone let us know if Jeff is Ok? A simple yes or no is fine. I won't pry for information I am simply worried because I know he was in Rockport and the backside of the...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo
I'm neither a professional, nor an educated anything, but I'll take a stab at it. As far as leaving tomorrow, sure. Adios. Coming back, presuming she'll land in Austin or SA, it's still a crap shoot, although it would be better than landing in Houston. But would she land less than 2 hours late, so ...

Re: January 2017 - Arctic Cold Front/Hard Freeze Likely
FYI- There is a beautiful, fluffy snow falling in DFW right now. The kind we don't see in Houston. You can make out the shape of each snowflake. I am one happy camper I beg to differ. We do in fact get fluffy snow down here, I have witnessed it on more than a few occasions. Rare, but it does happen...

Re: January 2017 - Severe WX Threat/Late Week Cold
Here in the general Austin metro area, we had some strong storms but nothing severe around 4-5 am. Rainfall totals averaged about a half inch in Travis County. There was some small hail reported and a few wind gusts near 40-45 mph. And a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning. With the Pacific front pass...

Happy New Year and Thank You
While you don't know who I am I know and respect each of you. This board has been my go to place for many years, even before I signed up. I would come here to watch Dan and all of you tell me the truth about the weather and you have taught me so much. I moved to DFW this past spring and never knew i...

I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone here. If it were not for this board and facebook there would be no information available to us near these fires. I am disappointed that none of the networks think that this warrants some air time but at least we have you to get us th...

Jeff is correct. Ice in Hempstead. I just let my dogs out and my back steps have a light layer of ice. It was really funny to watch the dogs slide off the steps!
