Re: January 2023

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I finished my first semester at Mississippi State a few weeks ago and will be returning to Starkville in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I spent Christmas sick and am just now getting over it. However, today was a great day for my school, as we won our bowl game in Tampa...

Re: November 2022

Well today is fun. There is a tornadic supercell about 30 minutes west of me right now. I am monitoring closely the radar.

Re: August 2022

Hey y'all! I have officially moved now to Starkville. The drive up here featured some scattered showers but it's nice and dry here right now. Looking forward to a great semester coming up studying my favorite subject--weather!

That feature is present everyday but the cloud-free zone changes according to wind direction. If winds are SW, the cloud-free zone is to the NE etc.

Re: August 2022

captainbarbossa19 I agree, but I just dont wanna get my hopes up ya know? It is demoralizing getting donut holed this frequently by storms lol I understand. Trees have not had enough rain yet to stop the stress of the drought at my farm. It's going to rain a lot eventually though. It will probably ...

Consistent easterly winds in the mid-levels will bring rain eventually. Definitely a much different pattern than most of this summer.

Re: August 2022

After yet another day with rain showers and thundershowers dissipating as they moved toward my neighborhood, I decided to do a little auditing and compare this year with 2011 with respect to rainfall totals. And as I expected, my general area is running ahead of 2011's totals, but disturbingly, not...

Re: August 2022

I’m not sure what the CPC is seeing to show a chance for above normal rainfall for southern/southeastern TX over the next few weeks but I’ll take it. I don’t really see anything on the models that would lead me to believe that but they obviously see something. Although the latest 12z Euro did look ...

My luck it will hit Louisiana and make travel a mess for me heading to Starkville on Friday. I would rather the Gulf hold off until after I move in. Lol

Re: August 2022

A lot of showers just off the coastline this evening. That's the most we've had out there this time of evening in a while. The air mass on top is very tropical right now.

Re: August 2022

So much for that widespread 1.5 inches of rain shown on last night's forecast. The coastal counties didn't get jack. Chambers County got quite a bit of rain overall. Some of Brazoria County also picked up some like around Lake Jackson. Tomorrow looks much better for coastal counties compared to tod...

Re: August 2022

Flash Flood Warning just issued Jefferson/Orange County. Storms headed west. Been raining since noon in Beaumont. Another round headed our way from orange. Another 3-4” possible over the few hours. Stay weather aware if driving 1-10 east towards Beaumont/Lake Charles. Yep the same places get inches...

Yeah but you have to remember that setups like this are notorious for flood events. While we do need rain, we don't need a flood. That's trading one problem for another.

Re: August 2022

12z Euro is showing a cutoff low developing over the South towards the end of the run. If this develops, we may have to watch for potential southern shifts in the track. It could be potential tropical trouble if it gets over the Gulf. The low is trapped underneath the ridge so it is moving west towa...

I agree! I went out to my farm today and discovered I have two trees dying now from the drought. One was about 15 feet tall too. It's starting to get really rough. :(

We can analyze the heck out of the daily regime... but when harking back to 2011 we all know that drought begets drought... only broken by a very big tropical surge of some form. When we see the daily drift of rich moisture moving our way from Louisiana, only to go poof at the border... it's obviou...
