Re: June- Extreme Heat Breaks the Cap!

Wow! Some of those thunderstorms are a little potent with the strong wind they are producing over sixty miles per hour. Baytown also badly needs rain form one of those thunderstorms.

Re: 93L Nearing The Gulf. Texas Bound?

So, conditions in the atmophere, specifically the troposphere, seemed to be conducive for good development, yet they are not ripe enough. The other thing that is working against that wave of low pressure is the speed at which it is traveling.

Re: May Weather Discussions. Drougnt Continues For Houston

Does anyone have a radar of the hail cores in these thunderstorms? I was getting some lightning here in Baytown and saw some ENE of Harris County. I am concerned about my plants in my backyard wondering if I should place them under my the back porch due to those thunderstorms producing hail.

The first hail core has dropped with a second one developing aloft around 25,000 ft. 4.37'' hail possible! That is an impressive chunck of ice falling to and striking the ground, svrwx0503. Rectify me if I am wrong, but would that size be grapefruit or very close to it? Come on thunderstorms, coerc...

I understand, unome. Yet, none of us have any control as to what those thunderstorms produce and where they dump their cargo. :)

Re: May Weather Discussions. Drougnt Continues For Houston

How would a tropical wave, tropical depression, tropical storm, and hurricane be able to eradicate the cap over SE Texas, by moistening up the atmosphere where it is the most arid after dumping its cargo on the very parched land? 850 to 700 mb from a direction other than Southwesterly generally doe...

Re: May Weather Discussions. Rain/Storm Chances Increasing!

Are we done paying for dry air that this past winter's cold fronts ushered in? When was the last time Texas received a drought like the one that we are going through now?

Re: May Weather Discussions. Dry Weather Returns

I want rain just as much as all of you do, but what we do not want or need is a flood which could cause death and destruction. I think someone in this forum said that tropical showers and thunderstorms are typically hit & miss.

Some of those thunderstorms in parts of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma are detonating with growh. That tells all of us just how ripe conditions in the atmosphere are over there.

It appears as though the city of Fort Worth may get a tornadic thunderstorm within the next several minutes. I tell you that all of the thunderstorms out west central, southwest, & north central Texas are exploding with growth like fireworks. 8-)
