Re: August 2020: Tracking Laura

Since it is momentarily quiet, I'll ask what I've been wondering for awhile:

Why is there a Hurricane Central sub forum if the hurricane thread is over here instead?

Re: August 2020: Tracking Laura

I live in El Jardin in Seabrook. Basically end of Toddville rd. What should I do? Evac or hunker? Just moved to El Jardin so very worried about time frame now. It would help if Corpus would quit yelling, "Polo!"

OTOH, if a relatively weak Marco to Texas results in a strong Laura going elsewhere, keep it up!

12z Euro initialized perfectly.
Except it didn't. Too far north, and thus ran it along inland Cuba. [Re: Think of Laura]

Re: August 2020: Tracking The Busy Tropics

So there's a hurricane warning within 100 miles of Galveston, yet as usual the Houston office of the NWS is the only office between the panhandle and NOLA to not have issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook. Anyone know why that office seems to despise ever issuing them? I assume they have a rationale, I...

Re: July 2020

I see a tornado warning for a private service just issued for west of E. Bernard to east of Columbus. Not seeing anything on NWS and being such a broad area I'm guessing the private tor warns are closer to tor watches. It's for industry clients. But maybe an area to watch.

Re: July 2020

So what's the deal with the Houston office of the National Weather Service almost never bothering to issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook? There are outer bands from a minor hurricane hitting Harris County and yet they still are the only office in TX & LA between Baton Rouge and Lubbock to not have...

Well we're in good shape right now if a drought does occur. Most of the lakes are near full.

Re: MAY 2020

Because of training we ended up with 5 waves of storms on Lake Conroe today. Thankfully no hail, just 1.5" of rain and some great light shows. And now maybe a 6th wave for us is popping up in a Conroe-Austin-Waco triangle. Already a severe warning on the Rockdale-Georgetown line that seemingly ...

About to get pounded here on Lake Conroe, but there's a really intense cell out between Somerville and the Brazos.

Re: MAY 2020

Just curious, why is the Houston NWS office the only one in the region that hasn't issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook? Every other office in Texas except El Paso had one out this morning. As did most of LA, AR, MO, all of OK, and extending further north. This seems to happen a lot. Any reason why th...
