Re: September 2021: TS Nicholas NW Gulf Threat
Posts on S2K say the latest Euro run has this storm stalling west of Houston and it looks like max rain is over 40” around the Houston metro.
I know you can’t rely on one model, but damn that sure scares the hell out of me.

Re: September 2021: Watching the Western Gulf
Well this cone concerns me. Looks like it's going to slow way down just in time to dump rain on the Houston area.

What are we looking at rainfall wise in the Houston area?TexasBreeze wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 8:20 pm Percentages are now 90/90 and looking at the model tracks shows the most likely track from Matagorda through the se Tx area. Judging from the usual NHC favorite TVCN consensus line. Closely matching the EC model.

Re: September 2021
Space City Weather's last couple updates mention areas south and east of Houston are more at risk for potential flooding. Does that still hold true? Hopefully that means I'll be ok given I live in the NE part of the metro (Atascocita/Kingwood area).

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
I haven’t been following much of the forecast as I’ve been stuck at work since yesterday. How are things looking for Wednesday? Will there be an opening where roads aren’t freezing over? I’m hoping to be able to go home if a window opens up Wednesday.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
Yes blue and red are PEX pipes. They can expand to allow water to freeze better than a standard pipe, but they still freeze. While the pipe bursting is less likely, you would still not have water if the PEX pipes are frozen. Keep that in mind. Any advice on what to do if they do freeze? My wife wil...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
Question about types of pipes. The pipes in my attic running from the water heater down are red and blue. That means they are pex right? Doesn’t that reduce my risk of a pipe burst? Yes they are pex and because they can expand and go back t it's normal diameter does reduce your chances of a burst. ...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
Wow, I can’t believe Houston is pushing the no faucet dripping message. That is pretty much a top recommendation across the board aside from wrapping pipes.
In any case I’m not on City of Houston water so I’m dripping (and still would even if I was on city water).

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️
I have some attic questions. My hot water heater is up there. Thankfully the pipes coming out are insulted outside of a small section where the pipes are routed 90 degrees down to go into the walls. 1.) Anything I should do with the water heater? Any sort of water heater cover is sold out. 2.) Shoul...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Wx Likely
Maybe this is a dumb question, but how do you drain the system if you shut off the main water valve? I live in a one storm house, so do I just open up all the faucets/bathtubs until they run dry?
I don’t want to screw that up and end up with a pipe bursting because I didn’t drain it correctly.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Wx Likely
Getting nervous now. Question...I will be wrapping pipes outside and letting faucets drip inside and having cabinet doors open. But I was thinking, is it smart to crack the attic door in the ceiling for heat to get into or is that not recommended? But i dont want to suck cold air into my home eithe...

Re: October 2020
I asked it before and didn’t get a response when it was more of a hypothetical, but now that the situation seems likely to become a reality, I’ll ask again in case anyone has seen an answer. Usually particularly strong/destructive land-falling hurricanes have their names retired. What happens if on...

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta
Were the models predicting the massive rain amounts from Imelda in the days before, or was it a surprise?
