Re: August 2019
Hey aunneste. Srain's in the house. Do you remember your very first post that I did not approve before you started on your monsoon diatribe? You thought long and hard about your response to these post and edited exactly what you would say. Perhaps it is best that you step back from your lame attemp...

Re: August 2019: Weekend Rain Possible
Around the same time Harvey hit, Typhoon Hato struck the Hong Kong/Macau sector, a highly dense region right along the South China shore. And guess what? Only 26 fatalities. Truly demonstrates the impact that smart, dense infrastructure can have regarding the effects from these storms. And with that...

Re: August 2019
Harvey's issues were mostly a matter of Greater Houston's poor, sprawled out design. Had the area been a real dense and concentrated metro like NYC or the urban areas of Europe, there would not have been near the amount of devastation. Meanwhile, the power was still on throughout that epic tempest. ...

Re: August 2019
after 58 inches of rain from Harvey, I'll pass. thank you. Right - don't tempt fate around here. Nothing more than a wave, thank you. Harvey was an epic storm, I'd totally take an encore. Great rains for cooler weather and greener landscapes, all with more time to Netflix and chill. Best of both wo...

Re: August 2019: Typical Summertime Pattern
Just looking at all the plant life around makes me realize how gross it is to have wet winter, dry summer weather patterns. I really don't know how the people in Mediterranean climates manage that type of pattern, the opposite is better by far.

Re: August 2019
No. Plenty of areas in Texas missed out on quite a bit of rain during July. And if a hurricane is what is needed, then I'll gladly take it.

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
The Rosharon dome strikes again and I've seen less than a half inch for all of July now Induce a bit of regularity in such dryness, and you basically have what occurs right on the South Texas Gulf along Corpus Christi and Brownsville. The dry spells in Texas are just so weird, even when factoring i...

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
The day is still young, I think the southern half of the metro still has opportunity. Summer is a fake dry season in Texas, not authentic at all.

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
I’ve noticed the past couple days these storms are really taking off once they get north of 10. It’s mostly just been some light showers south of there. I've been coming to the conclusion also that land-cover type can heavily affect the weather that is experienced. And it could be a huge factor in ...

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
Aunneste - would you mind including links and supportive sites with your analyses? Monthly mean precipitation is modified mainly by convective inhibition (CIN) rather than by convective available potential energy (CAPE) or by precipitable water. Excessive CIN is caused by surface dryness and warmin...

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
The American monsoon doesn't have the source of moisture, temperature gradient, or lift (Tibetan plateau) that the Asian monsoon. Indian Ocean >> Gulf of California It's more a matter of lack of land at lower latitudes. Even Australia, a mostly low-elevation continent, still gets stronger monsoonal...

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
Why not? Texas gets more equable in that scenario. No worries about extreme weather with a monsoon.

Re: July 2019: Warming Trend/Slight Chances For Rain
North America also lacks a true monsoonal cycle/seasonal wind belt shift as seen with other continents like Asia, Africa, and Australia. As a result, the continent remains very much at the mercy of the westerly jet stream, and emanating extremes in weather from its meridonals: Texas summer drought, ...

Re: July 2019: Increasing Rain Chances/Cold Front
Just enough rain here to wet my gardens appetite... this is really July in Texas............ Why does it regularly rain so much during the summers in the southeast and here in Texas we have a difficult time getting rain?I’ve always wondered that. Can’t really complain too much this summer though. W...
