Re: September 2023

Severe thunderstorm in the Magnolia Gardens area by the San Jacinto River. Strong winds, torrential rain, numerous lighting strikes, hail. Next day, same area, same thing. I just rolled by an even stronger storm than this a few minutes ago. It was like a tropical storm. The trees were bending, fier...

Hearing reports that a tornado went through Deer Park on Independence Parkway and made a mess. Lines down, trucks overturned.

Re: August 2022

I get frustration with weather forecasts. It's super common. Google "weather rock." What can really burn me out is the forecasts regarding tropical cyclones. I remember a few years ago a big hurricane was forecasted to hit SETX, evacuations were started, I was mobilized to do 12-hour night...

Re: June 2022

 I loathe Summer. Such a worthless season. Agreed. Larry Cosgrove seems to think this Winter could be really cold. Between the volcanic eruption and its propagation upward and over the NorthWestern Pacific and our EPO area warming fast, it could definitely be a full Winter. What eruption?

Re: May 2022

I see there is another small craft advisory issued due to high winds. As I've gotten into both drones and cycling this past year, one thing I've noticed is how windy it seems to be all the time. I wonder if that is normal or we just had a windy year

Why is that when I attempt to visit into this site I get a warning about the connection not being secured? This is happening for me across multiple devices.

Re: August 2021: Major Hurricane Ida/SE Louisiana Landfall

Wow... A ship's superstucture can funnel and accelerate winds, and thus winds reports from ships should be taken with a grain salt. Anthem of Seas was reporting winds of 120mph to even 180mph while sailing through the remains of a tropical storm. Obviously, the remains of Hermaine were not as stron...

Re: August 2021: Tracking TD 9/Gulf Coast Threat

I feel bad for Louisiana. 5 storms last year, and here they are getting another one. Can't catch a break.

Re: August 2021: Watching the NW Caribbean/Western Gulf

Ignoring the storm that won't likely effect Texas for a moment, there is a thunder storm near Nassau Bay at the moment and the lightning is simply brilliant.

Re: August 2021: Watching the NW Caribbean/Western Gulf

Every year, multiple times a year, SETX gets put under the gun for a little while by the models/and or forecasts regarding a storm, people get all worked up and, and then the storm ends up going somewhere else. Yawn. I'm not going to sweat it until SETX is in the NHC cone two or three days outs. Odd...

Re: May 2021

A fierce storm in Crosby. Lighting and thunder, strong wind, heavy rains. People starting to put on their four-way flashers in droves. Dunno why people do that, it's distracting and it isn't going to make the rain go away.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️

These power outages have proven deadly. People dying due to house fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, people not securing their doors well enough and letting the cold air in.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️

As I drive around Harris County for work today I'm amazed how wide spread the power outage is. Roughly half the red lights I run across are out.

Y'all know when you go to the fridge and fill up the cup with the crushed ice option? That's what outside is like right now in the Nassau Bay area.

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Winter Storm Warning ⚠️

Update from Bay Area. Went outside and walked around a bit. All sleet. A lot of it. Very windy. Blistery. Feels impossible to stay warm, even with multiple jackets, pants, ear muffs, beanie, ect. Side walks and parking lot okay so far. Saw a few cars driving around on the streets okay. Small puddles...
