Re: January 2024

Got to see 19 F this morning. Froze the well. The well guys showed up at ~1030 in 30 F to fix it. Made good time, and not-so-expensive fix. Took until 1600 before the water started running in the kitchen. Well’s now covered, and kitchen faucet it dribbling. I HATE cold weather.

Re: January 2023

This weather sucks! 75 with 88 % humidity,🤮🤮🤮 Beats the snot out of what it was like this time last week!! What we had last week was tremendously better. It’s not even close. We had sunny clear blue skies last week at this time with temps in the mid to upper 40’s. We had a couple of frozen pi...

Re: January 2023

Yeah I’m already seeing signs of ridging starting to show up as we head into the second or third week of January. Might be able to repeat the -AO, -NAO, and -EPO all over again. We may not have to wait that long. From what I am seeing the relaxation ends early in the second week of January. Also be...

Re: December 2022

I thought WE had everything completed for this freeze, based on lessons learned and prep in 2021. Unfortunately, we forgot to cover the eve vents along the west side of the house (the side where the kitchen is) and woke up this morning to no water in the kitchen. Been blowing hot air into the kitche...

Re: December 2022

Looks like this is the first time IAH has seen back to back years in the teens since December 1989 and December 1990. To get back to back years at or below 15°F at IAH, you'd have to go back to Jan 1982 and Dec 1983! So pretty rare! What a joy that was! Coming home from work to find a stream of wat...

Re: July 2022

Will it be wet? Will it be dry? Stay tuned Since June has been dry so far, historically that would indicate a wetter July. Usually either June is wet or July. Sometimes, both are dry, but that is less common. TV Mets are saying that it's looking like a return to 'more normal' summertime weather, wi...

Re: February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Hard Freeze Warning ⚠️

What brand is your generator? I have a 20Kw Generac Brand. If i had gas in my subdivision i would own one unfortunately we are all electric. Are you sure you don't? We're all electric, and wanted to get a stand-by primarily for after hurricane outages. I discovered we had a gas line running across ...

What a change a day makes! 60-deg. F outside with a BRISK north wind. Typidal southeast Texas north wind, one that cuts right through you. We recorded 1/4" of rain since midnight.

Re: MAY 2020

There were discussions of stalling lows/fronts in Texas the first of next week. Memorial Day stalled lows aren't good news. Hopefully, the stuff stays way north of us, and we just get a good watering, but nothing more.

Re: MAY 2020

We had 0.83" in the swamps of Pearland overnight. Luckily, no standing water in the yard when we got up. So that low-level circulation that looks eerily like something Allison-ish that's slowly meandering northeastward just north of the Greater Houston area is definitely going to keep going, ri...
